In a speech to Ghana’s parliament Saturday, Barack Obama told Africans they must match good governance with aid they get from the West, and leaders to take a greater responsibility in stamping out corrupt dictators, disease and war on the continent.
“Development depends upon good governance,” Obama said. “That is the ingredient which has been missing in far too many places, for far too long. That is the change that can unlock Africa’s potential. And that is a responsibility that can only be met by Africans.”
Obama also spoke of “a new moment of promise” having arrived for Africans. He said America would not impose any system of government, but would increase help for those behaving responsibly.
“The future of Africa is in the hands of Africans.”
Obama arrived in Ghana fresh from the conclusion of a G8 summit where world leaders pledged US $20 billion to improve food security in third world and poor countries.

obama needs to take a good look in the mirror before preaching about how others need to accept “responsibility”.
