In what may be a new low in tabloid journalism, The NY Post has endorsed Degenerate Liar Curtis Sliwa for New York City Public Advocate.
The Post is not endorsing Sliwa for the position due to his experience (he has none) or his ability to lie like a Democrat politician (that, he has plenty of). Instead, Sliwa is getting the nod because he promises to shut down the office, which the paper calls a “meaningless position,” “a needless money-suck,” and has been abused “as a soapbox for whiny, office-seeking pols.”
“If elected,” Sliwa wrote in a letter to The Post asking for the nod, “I would close and padlock the office, fire all the employees and, most importantly, fire myself.”
The Office of the Public Advocate was created in 1994 as a sop to liberal Democrats worried about an impending takeover of Gracie Mansion by Republican and fiscal conservative Rudy Guiliani. It employs 40 people and has seen its budget cut from US $2.8 million to US $1.8 million due to bad economic times.
Sliwa, who is among many looking to replace incumbent Betsy Gotbaum, is pulling out all the stops in collecting 7,500 signatures by July 16 to get on the ballot.

I have a better suggestion for Mr. Sliwa that he converts the office of public advocate to office of Court Jester for the city of New York. Since he is a known fool he would make the perfect court jester. He could continue to appear in various neighborhoods and subway platforms bringing laughter to the masses.
