Citing the economic recession hitting South Africa, Rural Development and Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti told Parliament yesterday that a new model for “land reform” must be created to replace the current “willing buyer, willing seller” program.
Nkwinti said it did not seem possible that the state could come up with the estimated R71bn needed over the next five years to buy land for redistribution.
‘We will investigate less costly models,’ Nkwinti said, adding that the government would start a dialogue with ‘those who control land resources’ to look for an affordable way of expediting land reform.
A proposed forced land Expropriation Bill was defeated last year after a diverse coalition stood to oppose it.

I am in favor of land reform. The white man is not indigenous to Southern Africa. He should not now be able to hold such a precious comodity as land. It should rightfully be returned from the usurpers to the original inhabitants of South Africa. Let the Boers be sharecroppers.

Strange thing though is that the white man worked hard saved his money, bought the land and now you want to just take it from him instead of doing what he did.
