Sonia Sotomayor
While there has been much mainstream media discussion about Obama SCOTUS nominee Sonia Sotomayor’s blatantly anti-White declaration that a “wise Latina” would reach a better conclusion than a White man, an even more extensive case history of her anti-White racism has been uncovered.
Sotomayor’s anti-white hatred is also apparent in her judicial decisions. Her summary dismissal of the Ricci v. DeStefano case, which dealt with a clear instance of anti-white discrimination, has caused widespread outrage. While Sotomayor showed no concern over discrimination against whites, she has a record of siding with minorities who alleged discrimination even in trivial and dubious cases, as demonstrated by a number of occasions in which she has dissented from the court’s majority opinion:
- Sotomayor declared a school guilty of racial discrimination for transferring a black boy from first grade to kindergarten because of academic difficulties.
- Sotomayor found a prison guilty of violating a Muslim prisoner’s first amendment rights on the grounds that, unlike other Muslim prisoners, he did not receive a special meal on a Muslim holiday. The prison’s defense, which the rest of the court accepted, was that this omission was justifiable because the prisoner was in a special detention unit and was not allowed to attend the prison event celebrating the holiday.
- Sotomayor sided with plaintiffs who charged that a New York state law denying felons the right to vote was racially discriminatory.
- Sotomayor’s opinion in these cases was out of line not only with the rest of the court’s, but also with that of most Americans. It is unjust and humiliating to punish white Americans for racial discrimination where none exists, especially when discrimination against us goes unpunished. Please reject Sotomayor and demand that President Obama choose a candidate with a record of the impartiality that justice requires.

Are you serious?
In an eleven-year career on the Second Circuit, Judge Sotomayor has participated in roughly 100 panel decisions involving questions of race and has disagreed with her colleagues in those cases (a fair measure of whether she is an outlier) a total of 4 times. Only one case (Gant) in that entire eleven years actually involved the question whether race discrimination may have occurred. (In another case (Pappas) she dissented to favor a white bigot.) She participated in two other panels rejecting district court rulings agreeing with race-based jury-selection claims. Given that record, it seems absurd to say that Judge Sotomayor allows race to infect her decisionmaking.

@ Ian:
You have proven something today – to copy and paste some words requires much less brain activity than reading, analysing, veryfing and drawing conclusion.
Johann,
What Ian posted was a summary from a longer analysis of her voting record … the analysis being performed by a Professor of Law at Harvard AND Stanford who has argued 18 cases before the SCOTUS.
If you (or anyone else) cares to read it in its entirety, here it is:

Here’s her dissent in the Gant case … the one involving the black boy referred to in this inflammatory hack job on Sotomayor:

This is why I despise the conservative right. This type of attack is the typical, BASELESS, crap that serves only one purpose: to appeal to the fearful, the angry, the ignorant, and/or the hateful … and it’s a perfect example of why I DESPISE the conservative right.
You’ve proven something yourself. Instead of adding anything to the discussion, you proved that posting pithy little comments that dig people who don’t agree with you requires much less brain activity than actually basing an opinion on something other than emotion!!!!
@ Jeff:
I just wonder why that esteemed law professor you mentioned had to specify that, on the panel of judges where unanimous decisions where reached, there was at least one Republican appointed judge. I honestly lost interest in what he attempted to say after that, because I have to ask myself what his agenda is.
So because he is a professor from Harvard, he is objective by default? Let me tell you something, I know individuals with numerous post-graduate and professional qualifications who don’t have the common sense of a five year old.
Correct me if I am mistaken, but isn’t a major part of the problem of our world today the fact that “esteemed professors” enforce their warped view of what the world should be down the throats of students? I am sure we have seen this before (I’m not saying that this is the case here, but merely to prove a point).
Sotomayor has made some comments in the past and also has certain views which should at least question her objectivity.
And I said it before – I may have certain conservative views, but I am not American and have never blindly supported any political party, whether it be along left/right or even religious or racial lines (believe it or not, in Africa “democracy” is exercised along racial lines).
But yes, clone Maggie Thatcher and Ronald Reagan and I’m the first to donate to the project.
And if Ian wanted to extract a portion of a complete article, maybe he should have posted the link to the post he has cut and paste from.
Trent Lott cracks a single joke at a birthday party and his decades long career is shredded. A white politician dares to use the phrase “you people” when speaking to the NAACP and is branded a racist. A white and black teen get in a fistfight and its declaired an anti-black “hate crime,” while when a “black muslem” kills two army recruiters its an “isolated incident.”
There is “zero tolerence” for racialism amongst white leaders, even where none was intended, while there is endless excuse makeing for the Jessie Jacksons and Al Sharptons of our political world, while the ratio of black on white violence grows apace.
To any who dare to disagree with the objective truth above, I can only say Ni66er Please.
I just have one question….
HOW THE F*** IS denying a FELON the right to vote anywhere near RACIAL discrimination????
People of all races commit felonies!!
So Sonia, do you know of any wise Latinas?
