Venezuelan Socialist Dictator Hugo Chavez declared on his weekly radio address last Sunday that “rich men are not human beings” and ordered the expropriation of more than 10,000 hectares (24,710 acres) of privately-owned land.
“Rich men are not human beings, but animals with human aspect,” Chavez told the nation on his broadcast Aló Presidente (Hello, President), adding that Capitalism “is a curse that originated when Judas sold Jesus Christ.”
“Capitalist hegemony is still reigning in Venezuela, but it will eventually end (…) We have to hurry. We must establish the socialist hegemony,” Chavez said.
Chavez claims the expropriated farms were “abandoned” by their owners, or used as vacation homes, and declared the government must “end once and for all” the practice of having a farm “for fun” to spend the weekends.
“The owners live in the cities, in the capital city and have a house here, a small forest and a watchman to guard the property. They pay him an extremely low salary (…) They have what they call a farm to spend the weekends or holidays (…). Occasionally, they kill a calf to celebrate, to drink whisky, rum and have a party. We have to stop this once and for all. Whoever wants to work his land, must come to work. It is not for fun. They just want to show their high status and their luxury van … No!, no!, no! The land belongs to the one who works on it.”
Chavez also praised the Maoist farming communities of China, and announced that a large delegation from China headed by China’s ambassador to Venezuela was accompanying Chavez to explain the scope of technical cooperation for rice crops and for the processing of other items.
“There is no such thing as private land,” Chavez concluded.

Chavez has also “expropriated” (a fancy term for “legalized theft”) American companies operating in Venezuela – not just oil companies and Haliburton subsidiaries that are the kulaks of America’s Left, but even rice-manufacturing plants operating in Venezuela.
