Alleged Boeremag leader Tom Vorster has refused to testify any longer in the nearly six-year-long trial in which he and 20 others stand accused of 42 charges which include treason, sabotage, and murder.
Vorster, who is representing himself during the trial, has taken the stand in what has been a dramatic and heated cross-examination for two months, accusing Senior prosecutor Paul Fick of “lying” and being “vindictive” and “malicious.”
He said the State was “abusing” him and his fellow accused, and correctional services was waging a “psychological war” against them.
At one point Vorster even call Flick “fat,” and Flick filed a grievance with the court, accusing Vorster of becoming “absurd and vulgar.”
Vorster has often complained of not feeling well, or at times that he was “so angry” with Flick that he could not continue testifying, resulting in the trial being postponed several times. Flick claims the trial has taken recess for at least an hour a day since Vorster took the stand in February.
Vorster became upset after the State turned down his urgent request to attend his sister’s funeral last week, resulting in “his whole family being prejudiced.” He also complained about the conditions of his incarceration in Pretoria’s C-Max Prison.
Vorster also claims the way in which his wife was searched when she visited him was akin to “indecent assault” and complained that he was not allowed to have contact visits or to consult with witnesses in jail.
Vorster finally proclaimed yesterday that he “would no longer tolerate” the “unacceptable behavior” of the State and the correctional services department towards him.
Judge Eben Jordaan warned him that he was acting over-hastily and postponed the trial for yet a further day so that Vorster could consult with his advocate and consider the consequences of his decision.
Brothers Johan and Wilhelm Pretorius, who stand accused as part of the Boeremag 21, confessed last February, telling the court that Vorster directed their role and gave them orders.
Vorster has featured prominently in the evidence of numerous of the State’s more than 300 witnesses, one of whom accused him of being a “police agent” – claims both he and the State denied.
The trial has cost Legal Aid Board, the group responsible for public defense council, R20,424,817 (US $ 2,396,728), the most expensive trial in South African history. Legal Aid says it will continue to pay for the Boeremag 21′s defense until the trial is finished.

What’s scary about this trial is how much trouble one can get in by simply talking a lot of bullshit. I’ve been to many braais where guys who have been drinking think up grand schemes on how to take back our country with only a few determined White men. Obviously none of them have progressed any further than talk, but if somehow someone recorded it or had an undercover agent we would end up spending the rest of our lives in the SuperMax listening to MetroFM and smelling K4 stink all day and night.
Only TRP has been covering this atrocity and outrage in Suid Afrika! Only TRP has stood with Die BoereVolk! We will continue to cover this until these men are Vryii! Ons Dien Die BoereVolk Met Trots!!
