Laguna Creek High School
Some parents in a Sacramento, California suburb are whining after their children were racially segregated by school officials in an effort to boost testing scores.
The “Heritage Assemblies” were conducted at Laguna Creek High School in Elk Grove in an effort to motivate students to do better on standardized achievement tests.
Mixed-race couple Tracy and Herbert Houston were particularly upset as their child did not know which assembly to attend.
Principal Doug Craig has defended the Heritage Assemblies by saying it allowed teachers to talk about test scores without singling out one group in a negative way.
