The Bronx Tourism Council has blasted Curits Sliwa’s so-called “Underbelly Tour” of the South Bronx as the Degenerate Dirtbag’s attempt to “capitalize on the worst stereotypes about the area.”
Sliwa says the “protected” tour shows “drug houses in the shadow of police precincts” and “active chop shops” to Oakies from flyover country who can’t afford a wild African safari at $5,000 a pop. All of the money goes into the pockets of the Guardian Angels leader and none goes back into the community.
“We’re surprised and disappointed that Curtis Sliwa is attempting to sell tours that capitalize on the worst stereotypes about the Bronx,” said Rafael Salaberrios, chairman of the Bronx Tourism Council.
Salaberrios is not the only one displeased with Sliwa’s latest hucksterism. Bronx Community Board 2 Chairman Roberto Garcia believes Sliwa is reinforcing the negative sterotypes found in such movies as “The Warriors” and “The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3.”
“What does ‘underbelly’ mean?” Garcia said. “We have three billion worth of capital projects. We have come a very long way, and what we should do is celebrate the achievements in a positive way and pay homage to those in the community who have stayed behind and been a part of that transformation.”

After the story broke, he then said, “it is a donation to the G.A.” Go to his website and see who this scam artist hustles a buck for “speaking”, “tours”, and other related bullshit! Make his open his books! How do you know where the money is going. After the story he dropped the price, and said “donations”. He knows that some of us are wise to his lies, and deceit!
