Texas May Secede: Gov

Texas governor Rick Perry has told reporters that his state soon want to secede from the United States over roiling anger at an over-bearing federal government created by the Obama administration.

“Texas is a unique place. When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that,” Governor Perry said.

“My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention. We got a great union. There’s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we’re a pretty independent lot to boot.”

It seems that some people are getting quite serious.

MAY GOD BLESS THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS!

Kimberly: The federalies are not protecting them now. If the sucede they protect themselves.
You don’t know Texans. Very indipendent people.

Well kimberly I would buy some guns before the second amendment is completely taken away from us.

  6. rjjrdq says

Kimberly, ask those folks on the Texas border if they’re being protected.

  7. len says

I’d move there if they claimed independence from the Union. It will be a safer place.

  8. Endgame says

    If Texas left the union, they would absolutely be able to sustain themselves and I'll tell you why;

People like myself would move there in an instant and pay Texas taxes with a smile because we would know exactly where every dime was going.

Well I disagree, which happens to be my right as an American…. and yours too in fact. I feel changing this country needs to be done from the inside, and if you wish to live elsewhere… feel free. I would just like a provision in your provision that states when Iran or Iraq…. or whomever, try to invade you to be closer to our borders, that you will not want or require our assistance. To think that the Country of Texas will be able to be self sustaining is insane. I may not live out in the great big Country of Texas, but I have friends and relatives that do. I applaud the fact that you took it upon yourself to exercise your right as an American and resort to name calling. Still if its the same to you…I will still stand here as a proud American…. be it a broken country or not, it is still my country.

For once, Texas Governor Rick Perry is correct. Many conservative and libertarian Americans agree that the right of peaceful, democratic secession by state convention is a legitimate constitutional right of every state in the union.

There are only two solutions to the massive Washington national debt now threatening the economic future and prosperity of every productive American. One is peaceful secession on the state level from the Washington Empire leaving the illegitimate federal debts with the Washington and Wall Street interests who created the debts. The second alternative is a constitutional amendment by the states to cancel the Washington national debt. The cancel the Washington Debt by 12/21/2012 Constitutional Amendment is now online at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=67594690498&ref=ts

This entire argument is because the US Constitution was put in place to limit the Federal Government not the people and not the individual states. Now that our current federal government, not just Obama but congress too, are overstepping their boundaries into the states' business, I applaude Gov. Perry for reminding them of Texas' right to pull out. Texans love being Americans as well as Texans, but the federal government needs to be reminded not to be so meddlesome. That is the point, I believe, Gov. Perry was trying to make.

I am hoping my state of Mississippi does the same thing Texas is talkling about, secede! If not, my family is ready to move to Texas or another state. What is going on in Washington and Osama Obama is scary. Never thought I would live to see this type of government in America. GOD bless us all.

[...] Now I don’t love the great COUNTRY of Texas. I understand that it is in the provisions of Texas becoming a State, in the United States of America, that if you want to leave you can.  Its your right.  You have the papers to prove it. Well now comes President O’bama.  You do not like him, or his policies.  You do not agree with how the country is being run.  You want to leave.  Well boo hoo hoo.  Take your Country… ooops, I mean State, and go home!
