Homeland Security Targets The Right

homeland_security_burns_constitutionThe chickens may be coming home to roost for right-wingers in America who promoted and defended civil rights violations by the Department of Homeland Security during the Bush Administration, as DHS has now placed right-wingers on their watchlist for potential terrorists.

The newly-unclassified DHS report titled “Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” says that “threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts.”

However, the April 7th report also cautions against “the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone logo_dhswolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.” Socio-political issues such as illegal immigration, abortion, limitations on gun rights, and the loss of American sovereignty could make matters worse for these individuals, the reports suggests.

“[T]he consequences of a prolonged economic downturn – including real estate foreclosures, unemployment and an inability to obtain credit – could create a fertile recruiting environment for right-wing extremists and even result in confrontations between such groups and government authorities similar to those in the past,” the report says.

The DHS report goes on to note that veterans returning from war in Iraq and Afghanistan are especially attractive to right-wing groups due to their military training. “DHS/I&A is concerned that right-wing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize veterans in order to boost their violent capacities.”

The Obama administration has distanced itself from the analysis. White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said, “The President is focused not on politics but rather taking the steps necessary to protect all Americans from the threat of violence and terrorism regardless of its origins. He also believes those who serve represent the best of this country, and he will continue to ensure that our veterans receive the respect and benefits they have earned.”

Criticism of the report was swift from libertarians and American federalists. “[The DHS report] gives the impression, undeserved or not, that the Obama administration is becoming a left-wing incarnation of the Richard Nixon administration, with lists of political enemies and wiretaps at the headquarters of their opponents,” writes Michael Merritt at PoliGazette.

Jerry Newberry, director of communications for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, said the vast majority of veterans are patriotic citizens who would not join anti-government militias.

“As far as our military members go, I think that the military is a melting pot of society. So you might get a few, a fractional few, who are going to be attracted by militia groups and other right-wing extremists,” he said.

“We have to remember that the people serving in our military are volunteers, they do it because they love their country, and they believe in what our country stands for,” he said. “They spent their time in the military defending our Constitution, so the vast majority of them would be repulsed by the hate groups discussed in this report.”

The department of Homeland Insecurity since its inception has proven to a worthless government institution that has done nothing to protect this country. Where has it proven itself worthy in providing security? A major area is the incursion of the illegal invaders; here we have a character in the white house that is one, and Homeland Insecurity has never investigated this clown.
It now issues this “report” regarding the possibility of violence by people labeled, “right-wing extremists”.
Please define a “white supremacist” Fatherland security, is it like being Jewish in Nazi Germany or a Ukrainian under Uncle Joe Stalin?
In reality this propaganda report is a pogrom against those who would follow Thomas Jefferson proverb against Tyranny.

It’s a shame that Homeland has to be run and riddled with such commies. I guess they have to fill up those FEMA camps they built. You can see what is coming down the road. Dissenters will be silenced. No dissent, no opposition, no freedom. Have fun at the Tea Parties tomorrow you all.
