A senior Obama administration official has told The New York Times that a top priority for this year is to get legislation passed that will grant citizenship to some 26 million illegal aliens living in the United States.
That official, Cecilia Muñoz, deputy assistant to the president and director of intergovernmental affairs in the White House, laid the strategy to The Times, which includes having Chicago Democrat congressman Luis Gutierrez canvas the country to feel out support for the agenda. This has already blown up in Obama’s face after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi infamously said that illegals are “patriotic” and ICE officials are “un-American” for enforcing the law.
Muñoz says Obama will begin speaking publicly about illegal immigration in May, and organize bi-partisan working groups that will include immigration groups over the summer, in a buildup to possible legislation that may be introduced as early as this fall.
“He intends to start the debate this year,” Muñoz said.
During the campaign, Obama promised Hispanic and amnesty advocate groups that he would pass legislation granting citizenship to illegals during his first year in office. Hispanics overwhelmingly voted for Obama.
Obama may have a tougher time ahead of him with pushing an immigration amnesty bill forward, with the economy failing, two wars overseas and other domestic issues such as healthcare and social security on the agenda. An amnesty effort attempted by former president George W. Bush dramatically collapsed under the weight of populist outrage.

I have about 127 employees in my construction company and the only people that are willing to put a good day of work are these undocumented workers. I have Latinos, European and oriental undocumented workers at my site and is always the same story. Hard workers, always gratefull and family oriented, Amnesty is the best stimulus plan available. Get it done Obama.
A path to citizenship for 4o illegal aliens by now, will not be good for America, it will hurt America, it will terribly hurt American citizens, this is being so ignored by our own politicians, why because illegal immigration in our beautiful country America is all about money!!. this is why our politicians are saying yes! yes! to illegal immigration, they are literately kissing illegal aliens butts, to them illegal aliens can not do no wrong, they are so allow to just so boldly, rudely, nastily aggressively just spit and walk all over American citizens in their own country, It is to the point that our own politicians has all their own American citizens to be beneath illegal aliens, they are allow to be first in line to everything, our employment, schools, colleges,social services, low income housing,sec. 8 programs. legal and illegal Hispanics on taken over American employment, about 95% of Hispanic are employed in most of our businesses especially California, the vast majority of our businesses employees are Hispanics now! all of this is being terribly ignored.
Our own politicians is going to give America to Mexico, without thinking about their own American citizens, they do not care that millions of illegal aliens are employed, taking care of their families, why millions of unemployed American citizens are unemployed, and can’t take care of their families, they had lost their homes, cars and many more things. our politicians have and are allowing illegal aliens to keep their employment, regardless of their illegal status, they do not want to remove them from American employment so that millions of American can have these employment! They allow millions employers to hire illegal aliens without any penalties!
Illegal aliens are allow to just continue to abuse our birthright laws in America, they are allow to have their children by the millions, because our birthright laws are so wide open to them to take advantage of, so they use it just for the sake of their children to automatically get granted American citizenship!!! IT IS A SNEAKY AMNESTY FOR THEIR CHILDREN IN AMERICA!!!
