Össur Skarphéðinsson and Barack Obama
During the NATO summit in Strasbourg and Kehl last weekend, Barack Obama spoke with Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Össur Skarphédinsson about collaborating on producing renewable energy sources and “green” jobs.
Obama, knowing Iceland makes ample use of geothermal energy for heating, appointed one of his primary White House consultants as a special contact for Iceland regarding energy cooperation.
At his speech to the NATO conference, Skarphéðinsson noted that the increasing temperatures the Arctic means that new shipping routes between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans via the Arctic Circle. Additionally, new areas of the world will become open to exploration for oil and natural gas. These facts will require NATO to develop new strategies for the Nordic and Artic regions. Although warning against an increased military presence in the region, Skarphéðinsson noted the alliance should prepare for increased traffic there and Iceland would be there for NATO.

I’m curious how many people it will take to disagree with this clown before he stops. If ever.
This “green” nonsense is really causing a lot more problems than we’re ready to deal with. Things will only get worse the more they pursue these environmental goals. Risk vs. reward doesn’t seem to have a place in this presidency.
If Iceland goes green would it be called Greeenland? There is already a place called Greenland.
