Burning Down The House: Liberal Intentions nearly wrecked home.
A well-meaning family nearly lost their home in a fiery blaze after a candle lit to commemorate last weekend’s Earth Hour did not go as planned.
46-year-old Afshan Khalid of Mississauga, Canada said her 8-year-old daughter lit the candle during the lights-out environmentalist demonstration last Saturday at 8:30pm.
“She was lighting up the candle and we thought it didn’t light up or the match fell somewhere that we didn’t notice and then we left,” said Ms. Khalid.
The family was going to see friends and while getting ready, lighted scented candles so they could see.
While they were gone, Ms. Khalid’s son Omar, 19, came home at 9:30 with a friend, saw smoke and called 911.
“The upper floor is damaged. The central part is all burnt out, smoke damage to all the bedrooms,” said Ms. Khalid.
Fire officials report the fire damaged a shelving unit and caused an estimated $15,000 in damage.

I can't help but think this never would've happened if it wasn't for all the bull known as "green". The scientists keep saying it isn't happening and yet they push harder so they can grab hold of the future monopolies in the industry. They only want what the oil and other fuel companies have, but making stuff up to get it doesn't work.

A liberal buys into “earth hour”, a meaningless gesture, turns off the lights, fires up a candle walks out and burns the whole house down. What a dumb ass! Karma coming back for a liberal idiot and one more house occupied by liberals taken off the power grid. Now if we can just take all liberals completely off the power grid and send them back 200 yrs into the past there would be more energy for the rest of us.

I’m sorry, I cannot laugh at this one. I don’t find it funny for well-meaning people to lose their homes. They were quietly demonstrating their concerns with a candle and lost everything. My heart goes out to them – even if the candle was left unattended.
(I personally find Earth Hour to be funny all by itself though).
Back in times before electrical lighting, house fires caused by candles were all too common.
