Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi
Israel has reportedly been given the cold shoulder by Barack Obama after Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi could not get a meeting with anyone in the new administration, from Barack Obama on down.
Thee Israeli military chief was in DC to lobby the Obama administration to abandon plans for dialogue with Iran, meet with higher-ups from AIPAC and to give new information on the reported nuclear threat from Iran. Gen. Ashkenazi could not get meetings with Obama, VP Joe Biden, or any Cabinet minister, including Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Gen. Ashkenazi’s US counterpart Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The IDF’s official website initially reported Gen. Ashkenazi cut his five-day trip short to attend meetings in Israel about new information on captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. The IDF then released an e-mail statement saying that Gen. Ashkenazi could not get a sit-down with anyone in the Obama administration. “With regards to a meeting with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, one was not scheduled between Lt. Gen. Ashkenazi and Adm. Mullen,” the IDF stated. “Lt. Gen. Ashkenazi has met with Adm. Mullen five times in the past year.”

The true colours are beginning to show…
Oy Vey! Never trust a schvatze!
ETB, you naughty, naughty person!!
How dare they?! This is ISRAEL, not some small country like Russia or China. ;)
THANK GOD we have a President with some cajones.
Why are the Joos whining?!?!? They all voted for him
Man, there are some racist aholes here.
If the whiskey salesman comes to town with only one brand and no one is buying, maybe it is the product. Israel has no right to tell us how to communicate with other countries.
@ Whitey. Not this Jew, and learn to spell before you leave a comment.
Obama is still campaigning. He’s doing his NCAA bracket, appearing on Leno, and going bowling (even if his bowling skills are at the “Special Olympic” level).
He has no time for the President-type stuff.
I hope more people start waking up and feeling their “buyers’ remorse”. Fools.
Somebody forgot to programme the teleprompter with the words “Thank you for your vote, now the real stuff starts”.
@ Exotic: No, Israel does indeed have no right to tell USA how to communicate. We all know it makes perfectly good sense to debate with terrorists, since it has worked so many times in the past.
I still say we need the alternative words dictionary – so when people talk about “other countries”, everybody reads “terrorists”.
