Barack Obama has declared to The New York Times that he is not a socialist.
“Let’s take a look at the budget – the answer would be no,” Obama said when asked directly. “If you look at our budget, what you have is a very disciplined, fiscally responsible budget, along with an effort to deal with some very serious problems that have been put off for a very long time.”
Obama also said he was not more liberal than as he marketed himself during the presidential campaign, and all his mandated government spending has been in line with what he promised.
The Times reporter continued pressing Obama on the socialist question, asking him for a “one word name” for his philosophy. “I’m not going to engage in that,” Obama replied.

Yes, he is a COMMUNITARIAN. Niki Raapana’s website and blog explain better than anyone else what is going on. We have been merged. The Third Way is the path we are on. THE DIALECTIC is what has brought it about. Our businesses have used Total Quality Management. Our schools have used Outcomes Based Education. Our “churches” have used Purpose Driven change agentry. All the same. DIAPRAX has been used. Google the word DIAPRAX. It was used on our daughter years ago in her public school gifted program. Training everyone in Group Think. Unity in Diversity. Using trained facilitators in groups to bring it about. That’s one of the primary reasons we are going under.
Seems as if the current administration is trying to control more and more of what we say, how we say it, how banks and corporations are run (nationalized banking system, anyone?)where we receive health care, how many taxes we pay, how we can defend ourselves, what the media says, our gun rights, our religious rights, our First Amendment rights, and the list goes on and on. Are the “thought police” already lurking about? What will be next? What we eat? The type of cars we drive? This smacks of socialism–or is this a dictatorship? The government is becoming way too controlling. I thought this was the USA, not the USSA – United Socialist States of America.
Where were you upstanding patriots when the last president 1.stole at least one election, 2.lied us into a war, 3.trampled the constitution through the unconstitutional use of signing statements, 4.illegally monitored the citizens of the United States, etc, etc? Really, please educate yourselves as to what these terms actually mean before you use them as negatives. And please, for the love of whatever god you pray to, learn how to spell and punctuate
I respond to CJ point by point:
1. The 2000 election was declared valid by the SC. Subsequent studies by liberal partisans like the NY Times even determined Bush would have won under the most liberal standard of vote counting proposed by Al Gore.
2. The Prez is commander in chief and may declare military action for whatever reason he deems necessary. He may lie about it or not. His military power is absolute and unquestioned. I don't think there is even any dispute about this even among the most radical opponents of Constitutional war powers.
3. Who was illegally monitored? Can you prove it? Were not key Dems informed of the wiretapping plan in advance, and did nothing about it? Again, the wiretapping was a military operation authorized lawfully by the commander in chief.
If Bush acted so illegally, if the case against him was such a slam dunk, why was he not impeached? That is the standard by which to judge, and history is very clear in this regard. He was re-elected to a second term and never impeached by a hostile Congress.
