Talking to an old mate this week, and he said I’m living the life of Brian, just a joke about the classic Monty Python movie “The Life Of Brian.” He reckoned the life of this old Brian is fantastic, and it is. It is that way because I “choose” it to be that way.
Afterwards I got to thinking about that great old movie.
Does this ring a bell? Substitute “evil white men” for “evil Romans”, it can relate to Australia, U.S.A., Zimbabwe, South Africa to name a few. I’ll stick to talking about Australia’s aboriginals.
Let me say this to set the record straight. I don’t have a magic wand to wave over them so I’d be referring to the minority. Sadly, I’m talking about the majority.
I’ve lived amongst them, seen the millions of tax-payer dollars given to them, seen them take the money and still “choose” to live in filthy third world conditions. It’s also been my experience to be abused as white trash, not withstanding the fact that I contributed to their “free” money as one of their benefactors.
And yet the bleeding heart apologists, the socialist engendered governments, the activists and socialised do-gooders; none of whom have to live amongst them are still crying out for apologies and the need to give them handouts, and more handouts, and more handouts, and more ……….
Let’s get back to the irony of the movie. A Palestinian anti-Roman activist asks, “what have the Romans ever done for us?”, referring to “how the evil Romans oppressed their conquered territories.”
There’s mumbling from the activists themselves, who offer the following:

The retort to that is, “All right, but apart from that, what have the Romans ever done for us?”

However colonization imposed changes on the Aborigines as people who lived in areas that were being settled by the Europeans, were forced off their land as towns and farms were developed. We identify the period in which the changes took place, as the historical period. The sort of changes that took place usually commenced with explorers entering the area of a tribe and being challenged by the people for trespassing on their land. The Europeans often (usually) responded by shooting at the people. Many were killed. When settlers followed the explorers and began felling trees and building farms, they restricted the ability of the Aborigines to move freely around their land. They also destroyed their traditional food sources.
The settlers had arrived in this country to build a new life for themselves and their families and had 'no time for the Dreamtime'. In other words most were not interested in the affects colonization was having on the Aborigines. In fact they were often considered to be a pest and a nuisance. Many were killed by diseases such as influenza. Thousands were massacred to make way for farms and settlements.
Seems like you have to give them money as you took away their land and food source. ??????

It seems it is either one side or the other around here. Rosco uses the word Europeans throughout his comment and that indicates that it is the actions of Europeans that concerns him. In other words him seems to focus on the actions of the Europeans has chooses to interpret them. A one sided view to the point where it should be ignored. I live in Africa. I am not blind to the excesses of whites during the colonial period. The history of Africa is nasty. But I resent the fact that only white on black excesses are ever listed and the cause of black on black violence is always traced back somehow to white involvement. Take one simple example out of Zimbabwe. The Ndebele tribe arrived in the territory some 60 – sixty years before the whites arrived. They massacred the resident Shona people in typical fashion sparing only young women who could be taken as wives. Ruthless, brutal and devastating. Then the whites arrived and the outcome for the people was clear that a new conquering “people” had arrived. The hitherto all powerful Ndebele we defeated and subjugated and the miserable Shona were slapped down once again. And of course in this example it must be remembered that the Shona people had in turn displaced the San people a few hundred years before. So why the selective memory of history? Why see and criticise only what the whites did? This one sided view of history is what makes what Rosco says to be meaningless. His bias destroys the integrity of his argument.
I as a young tike have been abused for being white. I have be called a white c@$t and all the above. Probably for things that white people did well before my time. Now do i tell my white kids that they should hate black people because they beat me up and scared me for most my schooling, etc life. NO!!! Thats why life on this earth is so missed up. Everyone else wants to pick a fight for something someone esle did. I'm sorry for what happened in the past, really i am, but why should I have to pay for it. Me. We have a show on TV at the moment called 'Living Black'. Good show. I enjoy watching it to learn about different cultures. So can I say with respect, listen my son, history always repeats itself. Being abused for having the temerity of being born 'a white man', is not some new phenomenon. And guess what, 'you' had no choice in being born white, yellow, black or all of the above with purple stripes thrown in for good luck.
You don't have to be sorry for what ever happened in the past, unless it was bad shit done by grogan. I think old mate Aussie Brian can tell a book by it's cover, if you, the grogan, needs to apologise for something bad the grogan has done, he'd cop it on the chin.

You asked me to comment, you'd like to hear, ok, let me educate you. Right now, in modern 2009, in modern South Africa, elderly white men and women are 'paying' for it. Never harmed a soul themselves, but are being tortured and murdered every day in ways most people couldn't comprehend.
