Curtis Sliwa said that he was “kidnapped” and “shot by the Mob”. He has been running this story into the ground for at least seventeen or more years. But the evidence doesn’t seem to back this up. There are numerous questions about the “shooting” that doesn’t hold up under logical questions.
For example:
- How come no one has ever seen the inside of the taxi?
- Where is the blood evidence?
- Why wasn’t the public shown the back seat where he claims that he was “shot”? This would have shown the extent of the shooting and directions that the bullets took. It would also show what his movements were insidethe cab.
- Sliwa said that he was “moving” around when the shooter was attacking him. Dodging bullets? Gee, that sounds just like Superman, or is that The Flash? And the shooter was only, what? A foot or less away?
- The number of wounds: Sliwa had said for years that he was shot “five times”. Wow! Just like Don Corleone in the Godfather! But the number has changed. Now it turns out to be three times! Five times, sometimes four times, you mean he didn’t know all these years how many times he was shot?
- Questions about the taxi itself: Who owned the taxi? Was is a fleet cab? An independently owned cab? When was it reported stolen? How was it stolen? How come they could drive around for hours without the police stopping it? Where was it taken to have the drivers side bulletproof shield taken out so that the shoot could get to Sliwa? How long did that take? Remember, the shield is bolted to the ceiling and floor of the taxi. This would have been no quick job. Yet all in one night, or more, this was accomplished with no one noticing it was gone? No one filed a report on a stolen cab?
- Finally, the alleged shooter must have been the world’s worst shot! He couldn’t kill Sliwa sitting in the back of cab with no obstructions? And the gun was a .22? The “mob” doesn’t use a small caliber gun to get the job done. They use a higher caliber bullet to do it.
This sounds like some cheap movie that you’ve seen.

The whole story is a fraud like Sliwa himself! How did he close the door when he realised there were no handles once inside? The hitman had the his window down so the neighborhood could hear the shots? The Degenerate Liar who gets his stories from movies apparently never saw "Pulp Fiction" where the John Travolta's character accidently shoots a boy in the face in the back seat and panics. Think a hitman wants a mess with blood all around driving in the city?! Or if the bullets were in the lower portion of his body did they pierce the gas tank? How did he manage to bolt over the hitman if he had bullets wounds in the abdomen r groin area or manage to swing his legs violently toward the hitman? Were his hands injured by falling out of the taxi… motorcyclists when they fall off their bike always get hand injuries! Were their powder burns on his clothes?
There are a lot of people, Republicans and conservatives mostly, who view Sliwa as an example of grass roots conservatism in New York City.
Anyone who's grown up in NYC in the last 30 or so years knows he's a con man and hustler, an attention whore extraordinaire.
I really hope conservatives wise up to his con job.
