While talk radio is fixated on the mere possibility of a return of The Fairness Doctrine, two bills introduced by Texas Democrat Congresswoman Shelia Jackson would make “hate” speech a Federal offense in America.
H.R. 262 and H.R. 256 were introduced by Congresswoman Jackson on January 7, 2009 and have been referred to committee. Their combined legislative powers actually go beyond their initial intent.
H.R. 256, aka David’s Law, is a condensed version of previous “hate crime” legislation that successfully made its way up to the Senate in the 110th Congress. H.R. 256 defines what a “hate crime” is and also requires the Department of Justice to add extra money and manpower to states “to combat hate crimes committed by juveniles”.
The most ominous part of the bill comes when it “Directs the U.S. Sentencing Commission to study the issue of adult recruitment of juveniles to commit hate crimes and, if appropriate, to amend the federal sentencing guidelines to provide sentencing enhancements for such an offense”.
“This part of the bill means [H.R. 256] will very quickly turn into a speech crime law,” explains Rev. Ted Pike, a Christian minister and free speech advocate.
H.R. 262 seeks to ammend private health insurance companies, the unemployment laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Housing and Urban Development in ways that will benefit people who have been victims of “hate crimes”. Also known as The David Ray Richardson Hate Crime Prevention Act, the bill calls for the creation of a federal “hate crime command center” in Washington that would be operated by “a private civil liberties organization”.
The Obama Administration “is determined to make America a “hate crimes” police state like Canada,” says Rev. Pike. A Canadian court found former pastor Stephen Boissoin guilty in 2007 for “exposing gays to hatred and contempt” when a gay man was beaten two weeks after a newspaper published Boissoin’s letter critical of the gay lifestyle. “Canada is a telescope into the future of America if a federal ‘hate crime’ law is passed,” warns Rev. Pike.

Courts have always had the discretion to impose harsher sentences for heinous offenses. The dragging of a black man behind a pickup truck until his body fell apart is a crime and apparently one motivated or escalated by hatred. The perpetrators deserved the max when sentenced. What is wrong about hate crime in the broader context is that it involves mind reading, and therefore becomes ‘thought crime’, ala 1984 and George Orwell. Having thought crimes or criminal speech as warned about in the above article puts us in the limited class of states that criminalize thought, North Korea and Viet Nam, or the ‘enlightened’ and ‘progressive’ social welfare states on the European model who find ‘hate thought’ by reasoning backward from an action, or forward to blame unconnected events on the speaker, when there is no proximity between the speech and the action. This is a gross departure from our tradition of Anglo-American law.
Maybe Shelia Jackson should be prosecuted under the same law for defending a six on one assault as a civil right…
Jackson Lee is a grade-A left wing radical scumbag akin to B. Hussein Obama. Marxist menaces to the core. This bitch hates whites in particular and will go to great lengths to stifle free speech. A crime is a crime. Would anyone actually trust this corrupt government to determine just what “hate” is? Not this conservative, that’s for sure.
Under this scenario, Obama would be jailed for writing his book. He bashed whitey didn't he? Sounded like hate to me.
Hey, why isn’t Al Sharpton prosecuted under it? This racist of KKKolour was instrumental in various anti White incidents that ended in rioting and murder? This bill is strictly aimed at stopping any criticism of Obongo.
“Hate crimes” are not necessarily about hatred. They are about perceived bias which might hurt the feelings of specially protected groups of people. If you are a member of one of the especially protected groups, apparently you can do incredibly hateful things to unspecial people without committing a “hate crime”. The case involving the kidnapping/rape/torture/killings of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom demonstrates that a “hate crime” is not about “hate”, but about feelings protection for the “special peoples”.

Spot on Great Frank…
It's always someone else's fault.
Eventually these people will run out of things to place blame on and realize they have to earn their way just like everybody else. It's not like the rest of the population doesn't face difficulties in achieving their goals.
The thought of having a smooth path to your goals may diminish the goal's value. You have to work at them and put the time and effort in. If it was easy, everyone would do it.
Of course nowadays, you don't have to do anything except sit on the couch and wait for someone to bring it to you at their expense.
America is being lost to the Democrats thanks to the Republicans destroying the economy.
Both parties are just as bad as the other.
They both seems to do what they want regardless of what is
best for American citizens.
These bills are just more of this disintegration into the Third World.
They have allowed the Third World to invade us by the millions and replace us
so I suppose these crazy hate laws fit right in.
Bye Bye old America. Was nice knowing you.
I cannot believe this unconstitutional crap. Hate crimes bills are written to stifle free speech and that is all they are written for. They are nothing more than a prelude to hate crimes thought. For Heavens sake, tell your friends family and anyone who will listen about this crap.
In a country that has a First Amendment there is no such thing as "hate" speech as suggested by this oversized African witch lady. She believes that unintelligence and inferiorness must be given a handicap to fight against the intelligent & hardworking. The best thing Texans can do is to boot this African witch lady out of office and preferrably out of Texas.
