Six members of the vigilante group Guardian Angels were kicked out of South Norwalk, Connecticut by a gang of angry youths Sunday, and told never to return.
This marks the second violent reaction towards the Guardian Angels by Norwalk residents since the group opened up a franchise against City official’s wishes. Members of the vigilante group were pelted with bottles and rocks when they attempted to distribute recruitment fliers in July 2008. Police have since ordered the group to stay out public housing areas.
The confrontation happened outside a local junkyard Sunday afternoon. Three local youths confronted the Angels as they handed out leaflets for their group. “There were some guys over there playing basketball. Three of them ran up into one of the apartments and came out with five guys,” recalls Guardian Angel Al Raymond.
The group started heckling the Guardian Angels and one of the youths came toe-to-toe with the red-berreted vigilantes. “He said this is their turf and we were not supposed to be there, and if we didn’t leave, things would get ugly,” Raymond said.
The group, which sells itself on ridding neighborhoods of violent crime, left and called 911. The youths fled before police arrived.
Degenerate Dirtbag Curtis Sliwa says it Guardian Angels policy to call 911 if anything rough happens. “I’ve told them, when in doubt, call police like any other citizen. And that’s because we don’t get the benefit of the doubt,” Sliwa told reporters.
It is not known if the Guardian Angels will return to the area.
