New Hampshire Republican Senator Judd Gregg has withdrawn his name from consideration for commerce secretary due to his principled conflicts with Barack Obama over the so-called “stimulus package” and politicization of the US Census.
“I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me,” wrote Senator Gregg in a press statement. ” Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.”
Gregg came as a second choice after New Mexico governor Bill Richardson stepped down over allegations of his involvement in a pay-to-play scandal came to light. At the time of Gregg’s naming, Obama said, “Clearly, Judd and I don’t agree on every issue – most notably who should have won the election. But we agree on the urgent need to get American businesses and families back on their feet.”
Sen. Gregg’s resignation comes after a long string of Democrat scandals have forced the resignation of several nominations to Obama’s cabinet.

Later he can be imagined saying:
"I had to step down so that I can get on Fox News and rally the republican base that was tragically low this last election. And also that later I may be able to get a book deal due to my new celebrity."
He went on to imaginarly discuss why he did not like the stimulus plan.
"See although Obama's stimulus plan is based in evidence throughout Keynsian economics, I beleive that we need to continue the practices of Reganomics that all the loopholes have been found and are being exploited."
Later when questioned on if his decision to step down had anything to do with the fact that the current govenor of N.H. was a Demecrat and could appoint a Dem. Senator to give the filibuster proof majority due to the fact that Minnesotta would rather give a person who wore an adult diaper on National TV over the residing GOP senator,
He replied with a sly smirk "Maybe?"
Kudos to Senator Gregg! We need more folks like him who stand up for what the believe in.
I don’t believe it a senator with ethics that is NOT willing to be another total “yes” man in our government.. Maybe there is still hope!
