Two members of the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) stood outside the Westminster Dog Show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden Sunday dressed as members of the Klu Klux Klan in an annual protest against what they see as cruelty to animals.
PETA’s goal was to create an “uncomfortable comparison” between the KKK, infamous for its oppression of African-Americans and other ethnic minorities, and the American Kennel Club, known for its dedication to the well-being of dogs.
The AKC is attempting to create a “master race” of dogs, claimed PETA spokesman Michael McGraw. The PETA protesters passed out literature arguing their point to passersby during the protest.
“We want to produce the next generation of healthy and happy dogs,” said Westminster spokesman David Frei. “Not just for the show ring but for the couches at home.”
New Yorker Fatima Walden called the imagery “inappropriate”. “They could have used something else as an example,” she said. “You should be considerate to everybody.” No comment has been found from civil rights groups, such as the NAACP, on the comparison.
PETA was condemned in 2003 for drawing a comparison between American commerical chicken breeders and the Holocaust.

Publicity stunt for PETA from a few radicals. And it worked, everyone around the world is talking about this. And while I think these dog owners are the most snobbiest people in the world, I have no love for animal “rights’ radicals either.
Now if the TRP wants a good story, google “Marion Berry” + taxes… Do a little research, I’m sure the TRP will enjoy talking about this. Marion Berry makes David Dinkins look like a saint.
I should clarify. Dog owners who go to these shows, not all dog owners in general. I own a few dogs myself.
