Farmers Leaving South Africa

The number of commercial farmers in South Africa have plummeted from a high of 85,000 in 1994 to 11,600 today.

The new numbers, released by South African farmers union Agri-SA, become even more of a shock given the number was approximately 13,500 a few months back.

The mostly White, Afrikaaner-Boer farmers find themselves increasingly marginalized in a society that views them as “land barons”, a government that looks to expropriate their land, and “war like conditions” which include a corrupt police force. “The increase in armed attacks, robbery and theft of farm products and implements holds serious financial implications for agriculture in our country. This high crime rate is experienced by the industry as economic sabotage,” said Agri-SA spokesman André Botha.

Farmers have been moving to neighboring African countries, whose governments have invited the farmers because of their expertise in producing bountiful crops in the tough African conditions.

In addition to the loss of commercial farmers, more than 1 million black African farm workers have become unemployed and have had to move their families to squatter camps. In total, approximately 5 million people have been displaced.

That sucks for South Africa, but is really good for the areas that the farmers move into.

Maybe they can even turn the tide of the new regions and produce more crops cheaper in order to help out with the food issues there while at the same time setting up shop in areas with less competition so that they can produce more and make more money for themselves.

Also it will free up the farmers left in S. Africa to aquire more land and amp up their production.

That may inturn lead to a more stable economy throughout the entire continent to that other businesses would be willing to open up there and progressively improve that nation so that other countries won’t have to dump so much money in there.

And once that happens we will have even more places to set up shop for our industries and produce more stuff for our country cheaper.

You don’t get it, do you? White Boers are being exterminated in South Africa!

  3. Confused says

Johann, why is this a white/black thing? Please explain.

  4. Johann says

    @ Confused:

Try to read the article properly. If you really want to have it, I'll send you a list of the 3,000 white farmers already killed in South Africa.

The majority of commercial farmers are white, like the article indicates. They are attacked by blacks wanting the land their ANC govt promised them. Just like in Zimbabwe.

As Johann put it, “White Boers are being exterminated in South Africa!”. Since 1994, in the region of 3000 farmers have been tortured, mutilated and murdered as part of an ANC sponsored [or at least tacitly approved] campaign of genocide against the Boere.

Anyone white person who is crazy enough to occupy the blood soaked land “freed up” by the ongoing genocide will simply be adding his name to the list of victims.

Should an azanian african try his hand at commercial farming on “freed up” land, there will be zero production only destruction. Just have a look at the results of the program of redistributing stolen farms in Zimbabwe and South Africa being pursued by their respective cleptocracies.

I thought all the british people left South Africa after they fucked up at their little colony project. Brits are so stupid. The sun never sets on their failures.

  8. Johann says

    @ Scott:

I think the problem with the Brits is that they attempt to be too noble. They were not able to build proper relationships with the black tribes of South Africa. They constantly messed up the fairly good relationships the Cape Dutch farmers built up with the likes of the Xhosa.

That’s why the Boers got fed up and moved inland to establish the republics of Transvaal and Orange Free State.

Until gold and diamonds were discovered and of course the Empire got its greedy paws in there – we all know the rest…

    @ John the Jolly Jack:

I'm afraid I'm not surprised at all. The corrupt, criminal, communist bastards cannot surprise me anymore.

And how many workers will join the list of unemployed when that farm turns to crap? It's a vicious circle…

  10. Johann says

    @ NotCrazy:

I hear what you say and appreciate your comments. It's just a pity when people don't learn from the horrific events and they are then repeated.

I doubt you'll be disappointed by the link posted by Rooinek.

  11. NotCrazy says

Just read the first two chapters and not that I am a scholor in this area of the world I think that I have a much better grasp of the events taking place.

And you are right the are 1. Horrendous 2. Economically devistating. And 3. Racially driven (against the white South Africans).

I do not think what I said initially was incorrect though. Aside from the White farmers being able to aquire the land. By the time the masses would be crying for the white settlers to come back (I understand that 'settlers' isn't the right term since they settled around the time we did America), the black africans will be back that are being taught at agricultural schools, so they won't be needed.

The one thing that will piss you off, and I am sorry for it since that is not my intention, is that this closley resembles what happened to the Jews for hundreds of years.

The persecution, damages to property, hate inspired crimes, physical abuse, ect. All this had happened to them thoughout history.

So really even though on the surface everything is racially driven, under it all it really has nothing to do with it.

It is all a matter of these people want what those people have and because we are the majority we will vote in our people and the people that get voted in will inturn give us what we want to continue being elected. Even if it destroys all of the things we wanted in the first place.

Luckily in America it is that everybody is so in the middle of everything since we want our cake but understand that we need future cake too that you won't see the government take businesses away and give them to the unintellegent masses since they will mess them up.

They may take a moderate chunk in order to help out the public, but that will happen no matter what the ideology is liberal or conservative. It is just a matter of how they get that chunk and which group it goes to low to mid middle class or high to mid middle class.

  12. NotCrazy says

    @Johann

Your right it is a very insightful read.

One thing that I would like to let you know though, most of the comments that you support sound really racist here in America where it is a completely different world. Basically the enviroment is comepletly opposite of what you are experiencing there in Africa.

Only the Black people here were dumped out of society and poor after slavery ended. And really it was only until about 40 years ago that that portion of our population was able to start to move forward and make some money.

So just like many of the white people in south africa there are a lot of ill feelings toward the larger population of black people. Only here it is backwards. And just like it will be there, those children that have parents going through this they will hold that hatred, and pass it to their children.

And on the flip side those rasict feelings that the black people in S. Africa will taper through the generations. And only after a few generations will everyone hopefully be able to move past it. And start to work together.

Johann and Rooinek: I admit I am pretty ignorant when it comes to South Africa. I do know that it is a messed up place and aside from a few other things that I have not ever tried to study to make sure they are right. I started to read that book you linked Rooinek and will read it fully (as long as it sticks with facts and actual responses and doesn’t turn to hate retoric to sell an idea) thank you for posting it.

And I appologize if what I said came off crass. I sometimes don’t think of how some things hurt people more that see it. I was looking at it from a purley economic mindset thinking of the larger benefits that come from the horrible events.

It may be difficult to but the ramifications of what happened there may actually move the whole continent forward. Africa is being ripped apart from every imaginable angle and spreading the best econmic resource that Africa has (Wealthy knowledgable farmers from S.A.) may be the best imaginable thing that has happened.

Even if it was from a truly horrific event good things can happen.

  14. John the Jolly Jack says

My cousin built a Sugar Cane farm from scratch on the North Coast of Durban, South Africa. They must now leave and give it to the Government for distribution for the blacks. The other farms that have been taken, have been left to rot.
The Gov will pay them a standard cheep shit for the land. They will no give any value to the R5 Million house. They are going to burnt it down to the grown.
This is no bullshit. Zimbabwe in slow motion.

  15. NotCrazy says

First I wish I could delete and re-organize posts so that I don't have three in a row. But so be it.

I just finished reading that book, read the first 5 chapters fully skimmed the middle 8 and fully read the last 4. And you are right it does change my views on what you white people from S. Africa are going through. I wish you and your families the best and hope that you find a peaceful solution, but after reading that it doesn't look like it is going to happen where you live.

I have some beef with the article though. As weird as this is for me to say with the view I have of this website, it is not nearly as biased as it should be. It does not mention anywhere about the murders, torture, or strong arm tactics to remove the white farmers (aside from "war like conditions" and a couple other generalized remarks).

I would like to ask the people that are living there what is it that you plan on doing? Because it is not going to get any better if history proves right. And how much support are the other neighboring nations giving?

The reason I ask is because if it is real intentions to bring the expertise of the farmers there they would seem to be ready to put a lot on it, and if not as much it would just be a invetation.

And also I am glad I worded in my first post "farmers can aquire land" and not white farmers, since hopefully the Black farmers who worked well with the white farmers seem to be where that nation needs to turn to to get them out of the food crisis that they are causing.

    Chris,

I hope it works out for you. South Africa is finished, regardless of Zuma's appointment. Why are blacks impoverished? They can't blame aparheid anymore – its their own doing. Zimabawe serves a a perfect example of the kind of socialist/Marxist revolutionary clap trap that has ruined most of Africa. It's only a matter of time before SA ends up the same way.

I am a white south African(white Boer) For generations My family farmed in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.
My farther farmed in South Africa before moving up to Zimbabwe and started with next to nothing. Opening up virgin soil and turning it in to a commercial farm.
Before that even, my forefathers left the Cape to escape the imperial Brittan where they encountered many an obstacle just to be orphaned by our THEN Motherland (Holland) and forced to bow to the imperial Brittan, by means of concentration camps where our mothers, daughters and wives where raped and murdered by British shoulders.
My point is ….. if we run from our NOW motherland we say that all the hardship our forefathers went thru was in vane and of no significant to us. I really hope the best for those, who want to flee and I pray for us that decide to stay and stand up.
    God be with us!

I've heard that Boers farmers Union signed a memorandum with the government of Georgia. The idea is to allow SA farmers to settle in Georgia. I think it's great idea, and will be in interest of Georgia and Boers farmers as well. So welcome, hope the farmers delegation who visited Georgia already, found it attractive.
