Democrat Senator from Michigan Debbie Stabinow has publicly called for congressional hearings on terrestrial talk radio, saying “there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place” on what is said over the airwaves:
Stabinow, whose husband is liberal talk radio executive Tom Athans, was in the middle of a grip session with nationally syndicated talk host Bill Press over the closing down of so-called “progressive” talk radio stations. Stabenow told Press that the airwaves are “dominated by one view” that “overwhelms people’s opinions — and, unfortunately, incorrectly,” and said that “right-wing conservative talk hosts” are “trying to make people angry and saying all kinds of things that aren’t true and so on.”
Barack Obama has publicly expressed his opposition to reinstating the so-called “Fairness Doctrine“.

I keep reading how liberal (talk) radio is a failure because the hosts are boring, etc. Perhaps somewhat true but let’s follow the money. I think their failure is because most of the people that listen to these uneducated sad sack hosts on Air America & Nova M (as well as NPR) are typical socialists that expect something for nothing and want someone else to foot the bill regardless of financial reward. Realizing the pathetic leaches they are, Advertisers refuse to dump their advertising dollars down a black hole that yields no return. If there was money to be made at these networks then without a doubt advertisers would be flooding the offices of Air America, Nova M, etc. with Ads. This is just another case of Socialists wanting something for nothing on the backs of others and trying to restrict free speech and thought.

If we are to dust off antiquated policies like the fairness doctrine, created before a true marketplace existed, than we should maybe look at others from bigone days….

During The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.
Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans. And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican nationals! The program was called 'Operation Wetback' so that American WWII and Korean veterans had a better chance at jobs. It took 2 Years, but they deported them!
