Barack Obama took full blame Tuesday night for not properly vetting cabinet nominees Tom Daschle and Nancy Killefer for positions in his administration, bluntly admitting, “I screwed up“.
“It’s important for this administration to send a message that there aren’t two sets of rules — you know, one for prominent people and one for ordinary folks who have to pay their taxes,” Obama said. Earlier in the day, Obama had proclaimed he was “absolutely” sticking with Daschle for Health and Human Services Secretary.
“I’m frustrated with myself, with our team. … I’m here on television saying I screwed up,” Obama said during several TV news interviews, including an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

I bet none of his supporters thought their “Yes we can” election slogan would be extended to “… screw up nicely on very elementary issues”.
But there are already Dopeycrats Dummycrats shouting that these people made little mistakes on their tax returns.
I can’t help but wonder at what point “little mistakes” are classified as “big mistakes” or “misconduct” in their eyes. Or are those classifications solely reserved for Republicans?
your such a ignorant republican. this isnt obamas falut.
Obama is a screw up, he is admitted that he would stick with Dashle regardless of his tax status. He had Tim Geithner another tax cheat nominated and confirmed as treasury secretary , another appointment “screw up”!
Obama is a community organizer for losers , a store front shyster. His front organization “Acorn” was instrumental in creating the mortgage crises. Now he is going to fix this situation.
Bush was no bargain, but not as dangerous as the Marxist Obama.
@ Alex:
Firstly it is a bit difficult for me to be Republican, because I am not a US citizen and therefore can’t vote in US elections. If I could, I have to admit that I wouldn’t vote for the Foreign Occupier.
Secondly I have to tell you that it is within Obamessiah’s power to check the background of people he intends to place in office. Us normal folk won’t get jobs with criminal records or when you dodge taxes. At least not senior positions in any organisation or state department.
Thirdly for somebody calling other people ignorant, your ability to make assumptions and draw conclusions is actually a joke.
Another Obama stooge and true believer! He is way, way, way, out of his league! He was acting as President, but the cold hard reality of really being PRESIDENT has hit him! How can it NOT be his fault? You mean this Foreign Occupier of the White House is so inept that he didn’t vet his chissler correctly? When 9/11 happened all we heard was , “it was on his watch’. Well guess what? This is on Obama’s watch!
I voted for Obama and am still happy with that decision. But we need to admit he did screw the pooch on this one. He has some of the most checked over employees working in the whitehouse then turns and looks past his cabinet members issues.
He is doing it to get the best possible people in the right areas which is the best way to go, but he stepped on what he has said his values are to do get them.
But you have to give some credit. How refreshing is it to actually hear a president say he messed up and mean it. Huge contrast to Bush who couldn’t/wouldn’t admit he ever did anything wrong.
