Despite Marxist dictator Robert Mugabe‘s claim that a cholera outbreak has been quelled in his country Zimbabwe, the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) says 3,028 people and counting have died from the deadly water-borne disease.
“It’s one of the worst and largest outbreaks of cholera,” said WHO spokesperson Fadela Chaib, adding that 1,000 have died in that past 15 days. Chaib said the situation is increasing in severity and a worst-case scenario puts a total death toll at 60,000.
Cholera has spread via water systems into northeastern South Africa, yet health officials say there is no reason for public alarm.
Rampant hyper-inflation has destroyed Zimbabwe’s infrastructure, leaving many hospitals without the proper resources.
