A Boer farmer from South Africa’s Vaal Triangle region was shot and killed in his farmhouse kitchen during a Plaasmorde attack, more than 12 years after his mother was murdered in exactly the same spot.
65-year old David Greig was shot once in the head and twice in the chest after he tried to wrestle a gun away from the home invader who was robbing them.
“It’s so ironic,” said Tom Hendriks, the man’s son-in-law who witnessed the murder. “My father-in-law’s mother, Hannah Greig, was shot and killed by robbers in exactly the same spot in 1996.” The group of twelve black Africans who killed Mrs. Grieg are currently serving 175 years in prison.
Plaasmorde is the Afrikaans name given to the characteristic home invasions and murders perpetuated by black Africans against Boer-Afrikaaners in South Africa. More than 2,000 Boere-Afrikaaners have been murdered in Plaasmorde attacks since the so-called “turn over” in 1994.
