US President Barack Obama has retaken the oath he fumbled Tuesday as a precaution against any critics who may claim he is not legally the President of the United States.
Obama’s wording during his inauguration wass not exactly the same as prescribed in the US Constitution. Vice President Joe Biden blamed Justice Roberts for causing Obama to stumble during the swearing-in ceremony.
The flub was not only picked up by this website but also FOX News reporter Chris Wallace, who doubted Obama was really the president during a live broadcast. Several constitutional experts told The Washington Times that Obama should retake the oath as a precaution.
The oath was re-administered privately by Supreme Court Justice Roberts in the Map Room Wednesday night.
Two previous presidents, Calvin Coolidge and Chester A. Arthur, repeated the oath privately because of similar issues.
