Kennedy Withdraws Senate Bid

Caroline Kennedy has reportedly withdrawn her bid to take Hillary Clinton‘s vacant US Senate Seat, citing concerns over the health of her uncle, Ted Kennedy.

The surprise move comes as a shock to many political odds-makers in New York, who had Mrs. Kennedy as a shoo-in for the spot. Mrs. Kennedy had strong opposition from different souces in the state, and a top aide of New York City Mayor Bloomberg just dropped his support for her campaign because “it wasn’t working.” A new Quinnipiac University poll shows many New Yorkers want Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to take the seat.

NY Governor Patterson plans to announce who will fill the vacant Senate seat on Saturday.
