Wall Street Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democrat Party candidates and interests over the years, according to official records.

Campaign donor serach engine Newsmeat.com shows Madoff supporting mostly Democrats going as far back as 1996. Madoff’s biggest support was an annual $25,000 donation going to the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee, and $5,000 going to the Securities Industy and Financial Markets Association PAC.

Madoff also donated $7,600 to Democrat New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg in 2007. Other prominent Democrats include Charlie “The Red” Rangel, John Corzine and Hillary Clinton.

Madoff made “small” donations of $1,000 to Republican Vito Fossella, Daniel Frisa and Al D’amato in the late 1990′s.
