Hustler Magazine editor Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis are now appealing to Congress for a US$5million bailout, claiming the recession has hit the porn industry hard.
According to Flynt, Hustler DVD sales have plummeted 22 percent since 2007. “With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind. It’s time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America,” Flynt said.
Bailing out the porn industry in its time of need is like helping the big three automakers, only, uhm, bigger: “Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation’s most important businesses; we feel we deserve the same consideration.” Francis is going to DC to make his case for the porn industry.
