Sderot, Israel. You’re reading the word but you can’t quite pronounce it. You’re listening for the so-called journalists on TV to say it but they skip over the word. Even on radio, which you don’t watch, you don’t look at; you just listen to . . . they have a hard time with the word. It’s Sderot.
Now back in July, that’s July of 2008, the in-coming President went to this town. He visited Sderot, Israel. Spoke with the people there. Went after the Jewish vote. AND GOT IT. He got the Jewish Vote. In droves they voted for him. And back then in July, when he visited Israel, and went to Sderot, he went before the cameras and he also didn’t pronounce the name of the town. Sderot.
What he said was that if somebody was launching missiles at his daughters bedroom, where his daughters sleep at night, he would certainly look to respond against the enemy.
A stand well taken.
And the Jews voted in droves for him.
To give you a little background, let me give you a snippet from the December 2nd, 2003; that’s not a typing error, that’s 2003; Daily Alert from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations quoting Ha’aretz: “The past 10 days have seen a 70% increase in attacks in the Gaza Strip, most involving Qassam rockets and mortars, and a total of 26 explosive devices were set during November.” That’s 2003.
Just a snippet from August 17, 2004; that’s 2004: “Palestinian Rockets Bring Death and Destruction -
Avi Yehudai’s house in the Israeli town of Sderot was hit two weeks ago by a Kassam rocket, fired from the Palestinian town of Beit Hanoun, three miles away. His daughter’s bedroom was destroyed. Cracks are visible in the walls of his house and its front needs rebuilding. Fortunately, the house was empty when the rocket hit. More than 300 of the rockets have been fired and about 70 have landed in Sderot, including five in Rekefet Street.
Tamar Trabelski, a teacher and mother of four, said: “This street has been hit five times. When it happens it feels like the whole town is exploding. Fixtures fall off the wall and the children start crying…..We feel we are very much on the frontline.” Mrs. Trabelski sees no parallel between her fears for her children and the fears of a Palestinian mother. (Guardian-UK)”
It’s ONLY the Palestinian army in Beit Hanoun. Not a family style population.
And this past weekend they were firing at a NEW TARGET – the Mayor of the City of New York, New York, Mayor Bloomberg.
So if you wanted to learn how to say the name of this town, there was ample time in which to learn it.
But what you should be listening to now is what is being said by the in-coming President. He has said there is only one President at a time. True enough. But on the day that HE takes office HE wants to sign a New Economic Stimulus package. The House of Representatives and the Senate should work during this Presidency NOT for THIS President, but for the FUTURE President. Waiting for his economic package is like sitting around waiting for a liver transplant. You could die before it gets here. (They figured out how to keep you alive waiting for a heart transplant, so I had to come up with a different organ.) Why can’t the House of Representatives and the Senate work on behalf of WE THE PEOPLE right NOW if the passage of this measure is so vital and important?
The in-coming President is giving orders NOW for what he wants, when he wants it. But what has he said about rockets hitting Sderot? I’ll tell you what he has said, ” . . . . . ”
And they voted in droves for him.

Cheryl, I enjoy your cutting comments as much as your contributions on live radio.
I chuckle every time I hear “Dopeycrats, Dummycrats, Democrats”!!
I am not the biggest President Bush supporter out there, but I admire the man for standing up for his beliefs and acting on them. He had the guts to say that any ceasefire negotiated would require Hamas to stop firing rockets. Other world leaders are tip-toeing about calling on Israel to stop their attacks when they are clearly not the problem.
We never hear that enough – Hamas should stop firing rockets.
