Speculation is growing around why Caroline Kennedy was able to get away with not filing a financial disclosure form while she worked for the New York City Board of Education as the chief executive of the Office of Strategic Partnerships between 2002 – 2004.
The form is filed by some 7,000 City employees in an effort to foster open government. As Kennedy seeks the US Senate seat for New York left open by Hillary Clinton, questions regarding conflict of interest and wealth in an age of Big Money in Politics are popping up.
City officials have been scrambling to explain her exclusion, from saying that she was not a “policy maker” to noting that she made only $1 a year. However, two people who worked under Kennedy at the NYC Board of Ed. filed the cumbersome, 32-page disclosure form, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who also makes $1 a year as Mayor, files the form as well.
Kennedy has said that if she becomes Senator, she will “comply with every kind of disclosure that’s available.” Now, Kennedy’s spokesman, Stefan Friedman, had no comment on the matter and the Conflicts of Interest board refers all questions to the Education Department.

Now that really makes sense now, doesn’t it?
First give me the job, then I’ll prove I’m of good character with nothing to hide (with regards to my previous job).
I remember a time when it worked the other way around…
Paterson MUST require that Kennedy disclose her financial records at least to him as a prerequisite for appointment. If there is a bomb in her financial records, now is the time to know that not when he can’t do anything about it.
Who does this Kennedy woman think she is?
And why doesn’t she use her last name, Schlossberg? Or at least hyphenate it, like Kennedy-Schlossberg?
