Raul and Fidel Castro
A day after muted celebrations marking its 50th year of Communist Dictatorship, acting president Raul Castro has offered to talk with US president-elect Barack Obama “without intermediaries, directly” .
“A president is coming in who has raised a lot of expectations in many parts of the world, hopes that are too high, I think,” Castro told his nation via a televised broadcast.
Obama has indicated an easing of sanctions against the die-hard Communist holdout.
White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said “The Castro brothers have not treated their people particularly well,” noting Cuba jails political dissidents and stifles the economy.
Castro spoke from the same balcony that his brother, Fidel Castro, declared victory from 50 years ago, pledging Communist rule in Cuba would last another 50 years.
Fidel Castro has been little seen or heard from since falling ill two years ago.

President Obama’s instincts will be to send massive amounts of funds to be used for the Cuban poor in order to gain influence. A better solution will be to allow the free markets to establish natural changes in the social, economic, and political systems without artificial outside influence. In either case, change and recovery will be quick. There will be lots of new doctors in Miami.
Even if the Castro’s die, their obscene socialism will still continue. The Cubans are subhuman people.

You say lots of new doctors in Miami? Did you see what happened in South Africa when Comrade Mandela brought in hundreds of Cuban doctors to replace the white skilled doctors who fled to greener pastures? He placed them within the black community, the doctors could not communicate with the patients in either English or their native tounge.
They began given wrong diagnoses and wrong prescriptions and people started dying from this.
Then you had tese guys performing surgery and amputating the wrong hand or foot and performing kidney work on a patient who needed an apendix fixed. Well that could hapen here with socialised medicine, starting in Miami maybe.

the myth of "Cuban doctors" is just that, a myth! It there "doctors" are so good, then why did this bearded cigar chewing maggot have doctors from Spain operate on him? Weren't the Cubans, "good enough"? Just like all Bolshevik dictators he used doctors from the West as Breshnev did. Or, what it that KKKastro didn't trust his doctors when he was under the knife? Perhaps he thought he wouldn't wake up!

Socialism is good and it works in cuba. it could work good here too. I (Douglas Sowash) support Communism Socialism it's not that bad and if we have a rotating political system it means no didctator but good health care and equal pay for everyone.

You claim to be the most advanced nation yet still think communism is the world evil. fear and ignorance is no excuse for denying the existence of others cultures and lands. Castro, Guevara, mandela et al have fought for freedom for their people and not succumbed to US imperialism. Lets hope the rest of the world can produce men of honuor and truth to stand up to your vile ongoing crusade for world domination.
