Russian and Chinese military leaders spoke for the first time via a new phone link in what signifies a growing alliance between the two powers.
Chen Bingde, chief of General Staff of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, said the phone link will help foster cooperation between the two countries.
Russian counterpart Nikolay Makarov expressed his willingness to cooperate with China on military issues and said the launch of the direct phone link once more showcased the high-level of the China-Russia strategic partnership and the two countries’ military ties.
Russia settled a long-held land dispute with China this past summer after handed over a small strategic area in easter Russia over to Chinese control.
