Embattled Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich has named former state Attorney General Roland Burris to fill US President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat. The move comes as a surprise as Blagojevich’s attorney stated the governor would not make an appointment.
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White instantly rejected the naming, as Blagojevich is under investigation for allegedly trying to “sell” the seat.
“It is truly regrettable that despite requests from all 50 Democratic Senators and public officials throughout Illinois, Gov. Blagojevich would take the imprudent step of appointing someone to the United States Senate who would serve under a shadow and be plagued by questions of impropriety,” White said in a statement today.
Blagojevich gave a fiery performance on Dec 19 in which he declared he had “done nothing wrong.”
“I will fight, I will fight, I will fight until my last breath,” the governor declared.

It’s either the race card or the political correctness card. That is all they can do.
