COPE “More Of The Same”: Boervolk

The international community should be cautiously optimistic about any “change” coming about from the creation of ANC-breakaway political party COPE, say Boer activists Dr. Lets Pretorius and Henry Pinkham.

In an exclusive interview with The Right Perspective, the two Boervolk Freedom Foundation leaders point out that COPE leader Patrick Lekota played a vital role in The Church Street Bombing of 1983. Carried out by the “military” wing of the ANC, the terrorist attack left “dozens of people killed, mutilated, and he [Lekota] did not give a damn about the worth of their lives,” Dr. Lets said.

“You’ve got to remember that Lekota’s nickname has always been “terror” and he is not known as that for nothing,” said Mr. Pinkham. “He’s always been a terrorist and a guy who terrorizes even his own people”.

“Afterward he [Lekota] became the minister of defense in [South Africa] and he made a total flop about this. Some of the senior officers actually took him on in the press and said he made it a total disaster of the department. Now [the media] is making him out as the new hero, and all he is at this stage is just another politician. And nothing more,” Dr. Lets concluded.

Dr. Lets believes the COPE media frenzy may be the result of inside politics. Just before Mbeki abdicated the presidency, he re-appointed the board of the South African Broadcasting Company (SABC), which supervises radio and television, to another five-year term. Mbeki put all his men in charge. This has turned the ANC against the SABC. “So you can see all these news bulletins trying to bring Zuma down and raise the profile of Lekota and this COPE Party”, notes Dr. Lets.

Dr. Lets does not believe COPE will succeed in taking the reins of power away from the ANC but will make  a significant dent in their ability to govern without check. “The ANC will not be able to have a two-thirds majority, they will probably have a majority closer to 55-65 percent,” he said, adding that opposition parties overall could benefit from the political change.

Dr. Lets also draws a distinction between an “Afrikaaner” and a “Boer”, liking the soci-political outlooks of the two white South African elasticities to that of American liberals and conservatives – Afrikaaners being centered around the more metropolitan Cape and Boer consisting mostly of farmers in the heartland of the Orange Freestate. The Afrikaaners think that because Lekota can speak Afrikaans reasonably well, they “are running behind him like The Pied Piper,” he said. “The same way the Afrikaaner ran after DeKlerk, the Afrikaaner are running after Lekota”.

South African political analysts tend to be Afrikaaner and allow their overly-liberal mindset to view African politics as if it were European politics. “You cannot judge this Dark Continent of Africa from a Western perspective. Because in Africa, politics are driven in an African way,” Dr. Lets said.

“The fact that there is even a split in the ANC at this stage might just be window dressing for all we know,” notes Mr. Pinkham. “Because we know that they will still have more or less the same policy. They sound different at this stage but they might just be an eyeblind. We are not quite sure as what is going to happen, but we know that they do not think like the Westerners. ”

“I am convinced that the last part of the (ANC) revolution is taking place in this country,” concluded Dr. Lets. “What happened in every country throughout Africa, their motivation is to kill white people. They don’t want us here, they hate us”.

“If we don’t form a lager like we did at Blood River, we will be going the way they went in Zimbabwe;” concluded Dr. Lets.

    @ Victor

Can you back up your statement in any way?

Allan Boesak already joined COPE – a person convicted of defrauding funds from international agencies intended for the poor and having served a sentence for it.

You guys going to get your act together on shortwave tonight? How about taking a few calls from real people during your shortwave hour for example. Keep the poor-Clinton impostor off until after 11PM. That’s webcast stuff, not professional shortwave material. I don’t listen to webcasting.

Last week’s shortwave show was a disgrace and very amateur, especially with all the noise and commotion in the background.

And just like the typical coward you are, sitting behind your keyboard, you won’t be calling in.

No Victor. Do not be throwing out such erroneous labels on persons you know nothing about. Lets Pretorius is a Boer Nationalist who is striving for the freedom of his beleaguered people who have been under one form of Colonialism & suzerainty since their ancestors were first dumped at the Cape as servants by the VOC. The Boers have had freedom struggles for centuries now with the first one against the Dutch power when they declared their first Boer Republics at Swellendam & Graaff-Reinet back in 1795.

Then they left the eastern Cape en mass during the 1830s & 1840s due to being killed off by a neighbouring tribe & the oppressive British Colonialism whereupon they would found a number of more Boer Republics with the ZAR / Transvaal Republic / the Orange Free State / the Natalia Republic & the Vryheid Republic being the most notable.

Then the Boers were conquered during the second Anglo-Boer War where close to 50 % of the child population was killed in the concentration camps & whereupon their two remaining main republics were annexed by Britain & attached to the new macro State of South Africa the British created which lumped the various nations & ethnic groups in the region under a single administration for the first time ever.

Then the Boers attempted to restore their Boer Republics during the Maritz Rebellion of 1914 only to be put down by force & jailed by the Afrikaner / Anglo South African regime. Then during the 1940s the Boers tried again to restore their Boer Republics by numbers upwards of 500 000 until the Afrikaner establishment shut it down once again.

Then a one Robert van Tonder left the National Party in 1961 [the same year that Hendrik Verwoerd turned South Africa into a nominal republic & who Theuns Cloete of Boervolk Radio rightly noted was not a friend of the Boer Nation] in order to pursue the goal of restoring the Boer Republics. When no other established political party wanted to pursue this goal: van Tonder then started his own Boerestaat Party & petitioned for a referendum among to be held among the Boerevolk for restoration of the old republics.

The Boers have been under Dutch Colonialism then British Colonialism / then most had self determination within the Boer Republics for about 50 years. Then they were back under British Colonialism / then Afrikaner domination [as the Cape based Afrikaners inherited the new macro State of South Africa & outnumber the Boers] & now the Boers are still under a form of suzerainty with the current neo Colonial regime administrating the macro State. The Boer freedom struggle is thus not new & goes back for centuries.

Lets Pretorius is not a so called “racist” as he is just the latest is a centuries long line of Boers who have fought & struggled to acquire freedom & some form of self determination.

Well, if you bothered to listen properly, you would have heard the guys apologise for battling with a Shoutcast server that was down and trying to sort it out.

Dr Lets has got the analysis of Mr Lekota spot on.Most of the time in my thinking I find COPE to be nothing but a Congress of the Disgruntled. They try hard with the help of the media to appear like they have some supernatural political credence, when they have been dismal failures in the past ANC regime.

Yes,his ability to speak Afrikaans has duped quite some amongs the Afrikanners and they now believe this man is a 'breath of fresh air'!All DR Lets says of COPE is a true and correct analysis, save for the fact that they represent a rich, middle class following. The working class and the poor are clearly abreast of how far we have come as a nation. They will not be swayed by any Tom,Dick and Harry blurting out a lot of words about nothing!
