South Africa Blocking UN Action On Zimbabwe

Despite calls from world and African leaders to force Marxist Dictator Robert Mugabe from his power stranglehold on Zimbabwe, UN Security Council member South Africa is blocking any meaningful action on the matter.

When South Africa was first given a temporary seat on the UN Security Council, an SA representative said, “[we see it as] … an opportunity to elevate to a global level the African agenda of achieving peace, security and development, including respect for human rights.” Now that the Mugabe Regime has nullified a legal presidential election, persecuted and killed political opponents, allowed a cholera epidemic to kill hundreds and out-of-control inflation to collapse the country’s infrastructure, South Africa has done nothing to “elevate human rights” in Zimbabwe.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the council in a briefing that neither the [Zimbabwean] government nor the mediator [South Africa, acting on behalf of the regional Southern African Development Community] welcomes a U.N. role.”

South Africa has routinely argued that the Zimbabwe crisis does not involve international security and is not a matter for the UN Security Council.

Mugabe Regime mouthpiece The Herald quoted Information Minister Sikhanyiso Ndlovu as saying Zimbabwe would “work hard to block [Security Council action] with the assistance of our friends.”ANC leader Jacob Zuma has said he is against military intervention in Zimbabwe.

The ANC is not acting against Mugabe because he is doing nothing that they would not do themselves. South Africa's next president did say the ANC will rule until Jesus comes. Zimbabwe is merely a case study for South Africa.

south africans are uneducated they didnt go to school because of the old system so i dont blame them when they defend mugabe they are just nive.

    @ Jimmy

Not all South Africans are uneducated. Your statement that they did not go to school because of the old system is nonsense.

Blacks had more houses built for them and better schools under apartheid than they have under the current communist regime.

The black ANC govt is backing Mugabe because of corruption – just like Mbeki benefits from diamond mines owned by Mugabe and the Chinese turn a blind eye because of mineral rights supplied to them by Mugabe.

Don't believe everything you hear and see in mainstream media.

Jimmy is partially right. But the insidious reference that it was whiteys fault is wrong, Remember that the ANC embarked on a "liberation before education" campaign where they encouraged black youth to burn down schools in order to make the country ungovernable,

Go ahead and prove me wrong

    @ Whitey

People tend to forget or don’t know in the first place that they burned down schools faster than they could be built.

And these peaceful marches where they were innocently shot by racist, white policemen. I wonder what business you have wielding an axe or machete at a “peaceful march”. Whatever it is, it isn’t peaceful and it certainly isn’t a “protest”.
