Gay Groups In A Tizzy Over Inaugural Choice

Far-left and gay activist groups are in a tizzy after US president-elect Barack Obama announced that Saddlebrook Church pastor Rick Warren has been chosen to deliver the invocation at next month’s presidential inauguration.

Warren, despised by the Left for his social conservative stances, including pro-traditional marriage and pro-life, drew the fire of many Leftist pundits after the announcement. People for the American Way President Kathryn Kolbert said she is “deeply disappointed” with the choice. “[…]Given President-elect Obama’s stated commitment to bringing the country together, it’s hard to fathom the reasoning behind choosing such a divisive figure,” wrote Jim Burroway. The Atlantic’s Andrew Sullivan accused Obama of attempting to build a liberal Christian coalition “on the backs of gay people“.

All the whining of liberal pundits has drowned out the fact that Obama will include an openly-gay pride marching band in his inagural parade.

Obama spokeswoman Linda Douglas defended the move, saying, “this is going to be the most inclusive, open, accessible inauguration in American history.”
