Republican lawmakers are calling on the House Ethics Committee to investigate Charlie ‘Red’ Rangel, already engulfed in an ongoing House investigation over fund raising and personal finance issues, to investigate the Congressman for a shady kickback scheme involving tax loopholes for big oil companies.
The loophole allowed Nabors Industries, Inc. to open a small office in Bermuda and declare itself a foreign corporation, costing taxpayer $1.1 billion in lost revenue since 2002. In return, Nabors Industries’ chief executive Eugene M. Isenberg pledged $1 million to a City College of New York school that will bear the congressman’s name.
Both Isenberg and Rangel have denied the contribution was payment for Rangel’s efforts to preserve the tax loophole. “At no time — never — did I entertain, promote or secure a tax break or any special favor for anyone as an inducement or reward for a contribution to the City College of New York,” Rangel said in a press statement.
Democratic House leaders, who last week re-elected Rangel as chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Committee, said they would not discuss the matter until the ethics committee completed its other inquiries involving Rangel.

To say that American main stream media has failed to report what is “the story of the century” is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Their cover-up is treasonous. In the event the Supreme Court ultimately determines that Obama cannot be President — not qualifying as an Article II “natural born citizen” — the msm will be the blame for any civil unrest by failing to prepare the American public.
