A gang of blacks who had one of its members killed by an elderly Boer farm wife during a plaasmorde attack have been arrested.
69-year old Sias Stander shot and killed 34-year old Ernest Vilakazi from Mozambique during the Coligny home invasion. Stander’s husband, 68-year old Hannetjie Stander, was stabbed to death in his bed as he slept by the gang. Mrs. Stander was also stabbed 12 times during the attack and is recovering.
Gang members Patrick Malebo (28) and Sergio Masibela (27), also from Mozambique, did not plead during sentencing. The case was remanded to November 17 pending further investigation, after which the accused may apply for bail. In South Africa, illegal immigrants with no fixed abode are free to apply for bail even in murder cases, and will usually receive it and disappear.
Ironically, one of the suspects, 26-year old Samuel Makgetla, was wearing a Springboks jersey at the time of his arrest. The Springboks are currently in a battle with over-sensitive, politically-correct types who say the rugby team’s logo, which is merely a Springbok deer, should be removed because it reminds people fo the “Apartheid years”.
One of the arrested suspects were out on bail for another criminal matter, while also under “correctional supervision” for yet another.
Plaasmorde is the Afrikaans name given to the characteristic home invasions and murders perpetuated by black Africans against Boer-Afrikaaners in South Africa. More than 2,000 Boere-Afrikaaners have been murdered in Plaasmorde attacks since the so-called “turn over” in 1994.
