The Venezuelan and Cuban governments have praised the election of Barack Hussein Obama to the Presidency of the United States.
“If Obama takes some action to ease the embargo, it would be welcomed and of course it would be of help, but we’re prepared for conditions to remain the same,” Cuba’s Foreign Investment Minister Marta Lomas said in a statement Wednesday.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez also said in a statement that he hoped the vote would open “new relations between our countries and with our region, on a basis of respect of sovereignty, equality and true cooperation.”
