An Ohio state official has admitted to instigating a background check on Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher, and a police department clerk faces a disciplinary hearing for doing the actual search.
The director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Helen Jones-Kelley, has admitted to approving a records check on Joe The Plumber. Jones-Kelly stands by the decision, claiming it was a routine procedure.
Meanwhile, Toledo Police Department clerk Julie McConnell has been formally charged with Gross Misconduct for allegedly making an improper inquiry into a state database to find information on Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher. McConnell will face a disciplinary hearing for making the inquiry for a non-law enforcement purpose.
