Eighteen months after opening up in Boston’s Hub district, Degenerate Liar Curtis Sliwa’s Guardian Angels are failing so badly that only five die-hards patrol on Saturday nights, paying their own way for gas and mass transit. The franchise has so little money in the bank that they can’t even register their car.
Things have gotten so bad that rumors abound that the franchise will close altogether and shift what little resources are left to the newly-formed Brockton chapter. But Sliwa’s failing in The Hub and Halifax, combined with rapid openings in Vallejo and Norwalk, makes the casual observer wonder if Sliwa’s faux empire is expanding at too rapid a pace.
One must also wonder if Sliwa, known for his stupid red beret, is more like another beret-wearing propogandist, Baghdad Bob. While hosting his new radio show at Boston’s WTKK, Sliwa said “an army of footsoldiers” are patrolling Boston’s streets. “I was just with them last weekend [....] There were about a dozen Guardian Angels on Saturday night.”
