Score one for The Right Perspective. In an interview with Halifax reporter Rick Howe, Curtis Sliwa admits that a year after starting up his Guardian Angels franchise in Halifax, Nova Scotia, only 8 people have volunteered and patrols are limited by local police.
“For a variety of reasons the patrols are limited to the Halifax Common on Wednesday night’s [sic]. Pizza corner in downtown Halifax is in lockdown now according to Sliwa, who says he’s pleased with the police response to the downtown rowdiness. He says he’d like to expand his group’s patrols, but needs more volunteers first,” writes Howe.
The Right Perspective interviewed Halifax Police Chief Beazley in December 2007 when Sliwa was first trying to muscle his way into the city’s Commons area. Chief Beazley then learned of Sliwa’s hyperbolic activities, his history of taking advantage of well-meaning citizens looking to make their city a better place to live.
