A New York rally protesting Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad turned at times into an anti-Obama, pro-McCain/Palin event, despite efforts to remove partisan politics from it.
As previously reported, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton backed out of the event when learning that GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin would be there. Then, in a surprise move, Palin was disinvited after liberal Jews whined that the rally would become a GOP rally instead of focusing on Iran’s anti-Israeli stance.
Among the signs condemning Ahmadenejad were official McCain/Palin campaign signs, as well as homemade ones reading “Jews Against Obama & Ahmadenejad” and “Prevent a nuclear Iranian Holocaust on Israel, vote McCaine-Palin [sic]“.
Palin released the text to a speech she was intending to give at the rally.
