“The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into what’s supposed to be straight news programming,” said former MSNBC editorial director Davidson Goldin. And with that, Leftist news commentators Keith Olberman and Chris Matthews have been knocked out of their anchor positions at the station.
MSNBC has found an audience by swerving sharply to the left, led by the 49-year old former-sportscaster Olberman’s anti-Bush “Countdown” program. The pairing of Olberman and “Hardball” host Matthews to co-anchor primary election coverage drew sharp criticism. While the vast majority of the Ministry of Lies is squarely to the Left of the political spectrum, Olberman and Matthews tore down the thin illusion of objectivity used to brainwash the average American on a daily basis.
Things really went overboard during the GOP convention coverage, with Olberman interupting a 9/11 tribute video with a scathing attack on the Bush Administration. Other on-air spats errupted between the hosts and other presenters who are more objective in their delivery of the news.
NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory will anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Olbermann and Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.
